my healing
We are all unique. We all need different things. Our bodies respond in a variety of ways. What works for one is not necessarily the answer for the next. And, when trying to find the answers, it can be so very hard. Our bodies can be so out of balance that there are a plethora of things presenting. One minute they’re saying this, and the next they’re saying that. The overwhelm and confusion is real.
Early on in my healing journey, my beautiful naturopath described my illness like an onion which is true of many imbalances in the body. One layer is shown at a time and it is only when the body is ready, and healing for that specific layer has taken place, that it will peel back and reveal the next priority. Most of the time we don’t even know what is waiting for us but we must trust that our body knows. There is an innate wisdom, within all of us, that will provide strength if we allow it. In this modern world, it is the departure from this inner knowing that has brought us here in the first place. We rarely honour what we need. Rarely nourish ourselves properly. Rarely rejuvenate fully. Stress, diet, sedentary lifestyles have a lot to answer for. Our bodies are the most incredible vessels and, if given the opportunity, they have the ability to heal themselves. They will work for us when we work for them. But baby steps are key. Gentle convalence is imperative. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Through these pages you will find the things that my body responded to of which I now embody and offer to others, offer to YOU. You will find the lessons that I have been given. You will find the things I’m still discovering. You may find the right things for you. You may not. We all gather tools for our own unique toolbox and must do what’s right for us. Perhaps you’ll be drawn here often, perhaps not. If not, I urge you to at least take one thought away with you. And it is this. We must take our health back into our own hands. We’ve given it away in today’s world. We look for cures and quick fixes daily without understanding what’s truly happening within. We must look for prevention and realise that our body is talking to us every minute of every day. We do not need to be chronically ill for our lives to out of balance. The time to listen is now. We must educate and empower ourselves. Build ourselves from the inside out so we can live a life that is full of vitality. This is not new information. We all know this but rarely act on it. We get in our own way time and time again. As American Author Federick Douglass said back in the 1800’s ‘it is easier to build strong children, than it is to fix broken men’. I think he may have been onto something.
